Before being recruited by Presidio, Inc., Mr. Rivera worked as an enterprise systems engineer at Pure Storage, Inc., a publicly traded data storage company, from 2023 to 2024, where he supported enterprise clients with advanced storage solutions. He first joined the organization in 2022, where he contributed as a data architect, designing robust data architectures for diverse business environments. Earlier, in 2022, Mr. Rivera was a senior manager for SaaS partner buying models at VMware (now Broadcom), where he developed strategic approaches to software-as-a-service partnerships.
Mr. Rivera found earlier success at VMware, now Broadcom, between 2018 and 2022, working his way up from a senior sales engineer, specializing in vSAN and hyper-converged infrastructure, to a staff partner solutions engineer in 2020, and then to a staff partner solutions architect for strategic partners from 2020 to 2022. Among several other influential professional opportunities throughout his career, he held roles at companies such as Scality, HP, SolidFire (now NetApp), Promark Technology, and the Children’s Home & Aid Society of Illinois (now Brightpoint).
In parallel with his corporate career, Mr. Rivera has over 20 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Since 2023, he has held the rank of first sergeant and serves as a senior enlisted adviser, acting as a key consultant to the company commander responsible for approximately 120 U.S. Marines. From 2020 to 2023, he served as a gunnery sergeant and operations chief, following his roles as a group gunnery sergeant and staff sergeant (detachment chief). Throughout his military service, Mr. Rivera has been instrumental in mentoring junior U.S. Marines on career progression, morale and the importance of U.S. Marine Corps culture and traditions.
Mr. Rivera’s academic background laid a strong foundation for his achievements in both technology and leadership roles. He earned a diploma in computerized business systems and network administration from the Computer Learning Center in Chicago in 2000 and an Associate of Applied Science in computer networking from Prairie State College in Chicago Heights in 2009. These credentials provided Mr. Rivera with essential technical skills that propelled his early career.

He has also maintained an active membership with the Union League Club of Chicago since 2024. Additionally, Mr. Rivera has served as a veterans’ co-leader for the Veterans Engagement Team Employee Resource Group through Presidio, Inc., a role through which he fosters engagement among military-affiliated employees by organizing events featuring guest speakers who address topics relevant to transitioning service members or reservists balancing civilian careers. His efforts have inspired clients, including major sports companies, to establish similar veterans’ groups within their organizations.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. Rivera has received several prestigious awards, including President’s Club honors at VMware (now Broadcom) and Scality. His military tenure also earned him the Gung Ho Award and a Meritorious Award from the U.S. Marine Corps, reflecting exemplary service.
Mr. Rivera credits his success to accountability, always following through on commitments and leading by example. His passion for technology began early, drawn by curiosity about how things work. The events following September 11th also inspired Mr. Rivera to serve something greater than himself by joining the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve while simultaneously launching his career in information technology.
