William “Bill” Boyden Jr., MSgt. USAF (Ret.), test and requirements manager and task lead at Odyssey Systems Consulting Group, Ltd., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements and leadership in Test and Requirements Management.
Mr. Boyden’s career is marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence, adaptability and leadership across the military, private security and consulting sectors. As a test and requirements manager and task lead at Odyssey Systems Consulting Group, Ltd., since 2025, he has been overseeing the delivery of electronic security solutions for Air Force and Space Force bases worldwide. His responsibilities include managing project teams, conducting acceptance testing and ensuring that all systems meet stringent Air Force requirements. Mr. Boyden’s expertise is evident in his ability to assemble diverse teams, integrate advice from multiple stakeholders, and lead on-the-ground surveys at installations, such as Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts and Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, in collaboration with representatives from Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
First acquired by Odyssey Systems Consulting Group, Ltd., in 2023, Mr. Boyden spent two years as a test and requirements manager and a force protection subject matter expert, during which he managed complex projects spanning several months and played a pivotal role in driving mission success.
Mr. Boyden was recruited from Oasis Systems, LLC, now Astrion, where he served as a subject-matter expert in physical security and electronic security systems from 2021 to 2023. Earlier, he excelled at Allied Universal, first as a regional vice president and branch manager in 2016, then as a security manager from 2017 to 2019, and as a strategic account manager between 2019 and 2021. Mr. Boyden leveraged his expertise as an assistant district manager for First Security Services Corporation, now Allied Universal, a position he held from 1996 to 2001, to continually progress. In this capacity, he developed foundational management skills that would later inform his leadership style in both military and civilian contexts.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Boyden worked with Laborers’ Local 22 from 1994 to 1996, contributing to major infrastructure projects, including Boston’s Third Harbor Tunnel Project and the Deer Island Project.
Mr. Boyden’s military service is a cornerstone of his professional journey. He began as an infantryman in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1986 to 1988, then advanced to sergeant and squad leader in the U.S. Army between 1988 and 1994. He then became a staff sergeant-section chief with the U.S. Army National Guard, where he spent the next 10 years in his position. Following the events of September 11th, he was activated for two years to augment U.S. Air Force security forces.
Transitioning fully into the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Boyden held several key positions, including shift supervisor and security forces flight chief, starting in 2005, training manager for security forces training, investigative task force leader and police transition team chief, superintendent of investigations and intelligence, and law enforcement and security operations manager, until 2016.
Mr. Boyden received an Associate of Arts in criminal justice from the Community College of the Air Force through Air University at the U.S. Air Force. His formal training included graduation from the U.S. Air Force Leadership Development Program’s non-commissioned officer academy. He also completed numerous trainings and courses that enhanced his professional standing.
Civic engagement has been a consistent theme throughout Mr. Boyden’s life. He has volunteered to serve food at community events and has participated in cleanup projects, reflecting a commitment to service beyond his professional obligations.
Among his most significant military achievements, Mr. Boyden was recognized as the top individual in the U.S. Air Force Materiel Command in both 2010 and 2013. He also led his unit to rank number one among 24 small police organizations in the U.S. Air Force in both 2012 and 2014. Notably, during deployments with police transition teams in Iraq, he trained Iraqi police officers in academy-style settings, accompanied them on patrols and introduced democratic policing practices. Mr. Boyden’s leadership during these missions led to the formation of investigative task forces that set new standards for future detachments, earning him a Bronze Star.
Among other recognitions, Mr. Boyden’s contributions earned him a Team of the Year Award in 2012 and two Employee of the Month awards at Odyssey Systems Consulting Group, Ltd. He attributes much of his success to luck and strong family support. Throughout his career, Mr. Boyden has also demonstrated a unique ability to learn from talented individuals across various backgrounds.
Mr. Boyden’s legacy is defined by 30 years of exemplary service across the military branches, private-sector leadership roles, and ongoing dedication to innovation in defense consulting, underscored by an unwavering philosophy of striving for excellence through teamwork, adaptability and continuous learning. Looking ahead, he remains focused on strengthening his specialized team responsible for testing requirements across U.S. Air Force and Space Force systems. He aims to bring greater structure to their processes while ensuring they continue to make impactful contributions in their field.
