Mr. Bacon’s responsibilities include overseeing the operation, management and repair of hybrid electric propulsion plants, as well as managing high voltage power distribution, engineering plants, utilities and facilities on U.S. Navy vessels. His expertise in plant operations and repair engineering has been instrumental in ensuring the operational readiness and safety of naval assets.

Before his current position, Mr. Bacon’s military service included significant roles, such as chief engineer for the U.S. Navy, beginning in 2023, and senior engineer with the Board of Inspection and Survey from 2021 to 2024. He also served as the chief engineer, material readiness department head and commander of Littoral Combat Ship Squadron One between 2018 and 2021. In this capacity, he directed engineering operations and maintenance for a fleet of advanced combat ships. Earlier, Mr. Bacon succeeded as the main propulsion assistant aboard the USS America, where he successfully trained and developed personnel in engineering, plant operations, casualty control and prevention, starting in 2016.

Mr. Bacon’s earlier assignment as a class maintenance execution manager for Commander Littoral Combat Ship Squadron One started in 2014. He also excelled as the chief engineer with USS Independence Blue Crew from 2011 to 2014 and as the main propulsion assistant and ship’s material maintenance officer aboard USS Wayne E. Mr. Bacon’s commendations include six U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps Achievement Medals, 10 U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps Commendation Medals and three Meritorious Service Medals.

The fulfillment Mr. Bacon found in mentoring younger service members inspired him to remain in the military, focusing on developing future leaders. He attributes his accomplishments to a willingness to research and analyze factors impacting material readiness, as well as a genuine concern for others’ development. He believes that building strong teams is essential for meeting the diverse responsibilities faced by naval officers.

Looking ahead, Mr. Bacon aspires to assume command within the U.S. Navy in a training or professional development capacity. Although not eligible to command a warship due to officer designation constraints, he remains committed to making a lasting impact by guiding and shaping future generations of sailors and leaders.
