Mr. Hayes is recognized for his expertise in threat assessment and his ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Since 2024, Mr. Hayes has also served as a military intelligence analyst for the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2 at Calhoun International. He focuses on acquisition, procurement and production, leading various threat steering groups such as High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System, Precision Strike, Counter-Unmanned Aircraft, and Next-generation Chinook.
Moreover, Mr. Hayes regularly briefs program managers on the five pillars of intelligence mission data—characteristics and performance, electronic warfare integrated reprogramming, signatures, order of battle, and geospatial intelligence—as they pertain to emerging threats and targets. He works closely with threat integration staff officers designated by Army Combat Support Intelligence, including those specializing in air missile defense, unmanned aerial vehicles, and weapons of mass destruction. His collaboration extends to allied intelligence leads from Five-Eye nations through monthly secure meetings and annual summits. Additionally, he partners with analysts at U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, National Ground Intelligence Center, and Missile Space Intelligence Center.
From 2023 to 2024, Mr. Hayes was appointed as a military intelligence analyst for the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2 at Calhoun International. During this period, he continued to refine his analytical skills while supporting critical defense initiatives and contributing to weekly activity reports submitted through senior leadership channels. This experience provided him with foundational knowledge in cybersecurity protocols and practices relevant to modern defense environments.
Mr. Hayes’s military service is notable for its breadth and impact. He served as a major in the U.S. Army from 2011 to 2022 following his tenure as a captain from 2009 to 2011. Among his most significant achievements was leading a military transition team on the Iran-Iraq border during the surge, where he successfully coordinated a visit from General David Petraeus. As the only officer with combat experience on his team of eleven, Mr. Hayes ensured operational success under challenging conditions—a feat that earned him recognition for exemplary leadership.
Throughout his military career, Mr. Hayes received numerous commendations including two Bronze Stars for missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Army Commendation Medal, the Combat Action Badge and four Meritorious Service Medals. He also revitalized the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program at St. Bonaventure University by increasing commissioned lieutenants from four to sixteen, thereby saving the program from closure.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Hayes pursued an education at Fairfield University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in chemistry in 1996. He ultimately concluded his studies at St. Bonaventure University in 2014, graduating with a Master of Arts in military and strategic leadership. Before enlisting in the U.S. Army following the events of September 11, Mr. Hayes worked as a field service engineer servicing mass spectrometers—a role that drew upon his academic background in chemistry.
Mr. Hayes is an active member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, reflecting his ongoing commitment to supporting fellow veterans. His civic engagement includes volunteer work with Easter Seals and Freedom Boat Club, where he contributes time to community-focused initiatives.
Mr. Hayes attributes much of his professional success to the strength of his teams and mentors throughout his career—particularly noncommissioned officers such as Sergeant First Class Gates, Staff Sergeant Leonard, Staff Sergeant Zega, Sergeant First Class LaSalle, Sergeant First Class Geter, First Sergeant Connell and Lieutenant Colonel Sims—who provided guidance during his formative years as an officer. His approach emphasizes continuous learning through reading widely across open-source materials as well as classified sources. Mr. Hayes’ career stands as a testament to dedication, teamwork, mentorship, and lifelong learning within both military service and civilian intelligence analysis fields.
