Marisol A. Chalas, Deputy Chief of Staff (G-3/5/7) at Army Reserve Aviation Command, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Military Defense and Armed Services.
Ms. Chalas has built a reputation for excellence as the deputy chief of staff for the Army Reserve Aviation Command (ARAC). In her elite position, she is responsible for identifying exercises, training opportunities, and resources, managing the annual fiscal budget, serving as the operation officer for the entire ARAC, training over 4,400 soldiers, and overseeing approximately 600 civilians and 230 aircraft. Ms. Chalas notably enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1990 and, during her military career, served in numerous leadership roles, including platoon leader during Operation Iraqi Freedom. This experience and her ability to build cohesive teams have been instrumental in her success.
Highly educated, Ms. Chalas received a Bachelor of Science in marine engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 1996 and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University in 2008, followed by completing a strategic fellows program at the Institute of World Politics in 2014. Additional educational pursuits to her credit include a Master of Professional Studies in legislative affairs from The George Washington University in 2017 and a Master of Strategic Studies from The U.S. Army Ware College in 2023. Besides her extensive education, Ms. Chalas is a professional member of the Association of the U.S. Army, the Army Aviation Association of America and the Military Officers Association of America. Civically, she is active with the Rotary Club of Dublin and has been serving on the board of trustees for the Massachusetts Maritime Academy since 2014.
Among many noteworthy accomplishments, Ms. Chalas was recognized as the first Latina in the National Guard to fly a Blackhawk helicopter and the first U.S. Army reservist to serve as the 37th vice chief of staff. She has been featured in the Smithsonian Aviation Museum and the Spanish edition of Forbes for her success, has been decorated with an Air Medal by the Dominican Air Force, and received several other accolades throughout her career. Ms. Chalas’s future goals include earning the rank of general in the military, and upon retirement, she intends to become a lobbyist where she can advocate for causes of significant importance.
