Robert G. Parke, President of the Board of Trustees at Palos Verdes Library District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in labor relations and human resources management.

A versatile professional with a background that includes impressive military service, corporate leadership, and community engagement, Mr. Parke’s career is a testament to his passion for human resources and his inherent talent for building bridges between organizations and their employees. Prior to his civilian endeavors, he began his career in the U.S. Army, serving with distinction between 1968 and 1972. Over the course of his military service, he advanced to the ranks of captain, a helicopter pilot, a field artillery officer, and second lieutenant, capacities in which he adopted values of leadership, discipline and integrity. In light of his exceptional military tenure, Mr. Parke was presented with the Distinguished Flying Cross, 37 Combat Air Medals, two Army Commendation Medals,  the Bronze Star, and various service medals.

Upon his transition to civilian life, Mr. Parke found success as the vice president of human resources for the Hughes Aircraft Company from 1972 to 2000. After working for Executive Recruiting Company as the acting director of human resources and a recruitment and human resources special projects consultant between 2000 and 2004, he helped to establish Secova in Costa Mesa, California, for which he was active as the vice president of strategy and business processes from 2004 to 2012, the senior vice president from 2016 to 2019, and the co-founder from 2004 to 2019. President. Under Mr. Parke’s guidance, Secova, a benefits administration firm, experienced exponential growth, expanding to 400 employees and garnering $20 million in sales. 

Since 2019, Mr. Parke has excelled as the president of Parke Family Enterprises and a member of the board of trustees for the Palos Verdes Library District. He was likewise appointed president of the board of trustees for the Palos Verdes Library District in 2023. In the latter position, Mr. Parke currently leads a team devoted to enhancing library services and advancing literacy for over 70,000 residents while supervising budget allocations and partnering with local authorities. 

To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Parke initially pursued an education at the University of Houston, from which he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in general management in 1968. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he continued his academic efforts with a Master of Business Administration in general management from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business in 1974. Mr. Parke would conclude his formal studies at the University of California Los Angeles in 1985, at which point he graduated from their Executive Management Program.

Beyond his primary responsibilities, Mr. Parke has exhibited a commitment to community service, as he is a firm believer in giving back to those in need. He has contributed as a board member for such organizations as Daedalians, Children’s Dental Center, Junior Achievement of Southern California, Hughes Retiree Association, and Palos Verdes Golf Club. Mr. Parke was formerly recruited as a board member for Friends of Libraries between 2010 and 2018.

An expert in labor relations who is distinguished for his ability to broker “win-win” negotiations, Mr. Parke has attributed his success to his education, his hard work, and his stellar work ethic. Among his many achievements, he is incredibly proud of his ability to develop solutions for issues impacting individuals at all organizational levels as well as facilitating discussions that often find common ground on contentious matters. Looking toward the future, Mr. Parke hopes to continue providing his wealth of knowledge and experience to the board of the Palos Verdes Library District.
