Frank Rivera, Director of Military and Veterans Services at Saint Peter’s University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in veterans affairs.

Mr. Rivera’s professional journey is steeped in dedication and service to veterans’ education and well-being. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and later a Master of Science in national security, he transitioned from a successful tenure as an electrical & environmental systems technician in the US Air Force to a career dedicated to empowering veterans. His path led him through significant roles, from the veterans services assistant coordinator at Middlesex County College to director of military and veterans affairs at New York Institute of Technology and, presently, as the director of military and veterans services at Saint Peter’s University. Noteworthy is his achievement in winning New Jersey’s Governor We Value Our Veterans Award and the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal from Gov. Phil Murphy for his exceptional service.

Inspired by his own transformative experience in higher education post-military service, Mr. Rivera made it his mission to support fellow veterans. His journey began as a volunteer at Middlesex County College and evolved into a career dedicated to providing opportunities to those who have served. His motivation stems from disproving naysayers who once doubted his potential, leveraging their negativity to fuel his success. His unwavering determination and refusal to let others define his destiny have been pivotal to his accomplishments.

One of Mr. Rivera’s most significant career highlights is witnessing the success of his former students, notably Marcus Martinez. Mr. Martinez, initially filled with self-doubt, flourished under Mr. Rivera’s guidance, eventually becoming a source of inspiration himself, teaching the Brazilian Olympic freestyle wrestling team. This transformative journey exemplifies Mr. Rivera’s commitment to empowering others and fostering success in those he mentors.

Looking ahead, Mr. Rivera has set ambitious goals both personally and professionally. Eagerly anticipating his son’s graduation from Saint Peter’s University, he envisions expanding the university’s veterans program and establishing it as a premier destination for veterans nationwide. Beyond this, he aims to leverage his expertise by consulting and sharing his playbook with individuals or organizations seeking to assist veterans, aspiring to create a brighter future for all veterans and their families.
