Frank Stephen Callahan, Retired First Sergeant at the U.S. Marine Corps and Retired Federal Police Officer and Patrol Sergeant Supervisor at the U.S. Department of Defense, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law enforcement.
With more than 25 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Callahan has excelled as a federal police officer and patrol sergeant supervisor for the U.S. Department of Defense from 1989 to 2009, at which point he retired. He began his career in the United States Marine Corps in 1959 at the age of 16, and retired at the rank of first sergeant in 1987. He served as a municipal police officer and paid police reservist in Leon, California. He worked on Joan B. Kroc’s security staff for seven years.
At San Diego Miramar College, Mr. Callahan completed an arrest and firearms certification course in 2002, a public safety program in 1997, and another in basic and interim traffic collision and skid analysis in 1995. He successfully finished a police sciences course at the San Diego Regional Public Safety Training Institute and an introduction to political science and police science course at Napa Valley College in 1979.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Callahan has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He donated to the Elks Club. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a lifetime member of the Single Action Shooting Society, the United States Marine Corps Guard, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, the Marine Corps Association Foundation, the 1st Marine Division Association, and the Elks Club.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Callahan has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He received the Meritorious Unit Commendation in 1987, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal between 1986 and 1987, the Good Conduct Awards between 1961 and 1970, the Combat Action Ribbon in 1966 and 1967. He was presented with the Presidential Unit Citation and the Navy Unit Citation in 1967 and the Expeditionary Medal for Cuba from the Marine Corps in 1960 and 1961.
Mr. Callahan decided to go into the Marine Corps because it was elite, rigorous, and challenging. His father was in the Marine Corps as well, and he believed that if his father could be successful there, he could as well. His most notable accomplishment was his involvement as security staff and corporal in the United States Marines for the visit of President Kennedy to Dublin, Ireland for the United Nations conference in 1963.
