Jacob Barsottini, a treasurer of his local chapter and both treasurer and executive vice president of state council at Vietnam Veterans of America, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for his dedication, achievements, and leadership in veteran affairs.
Before embarking on his career path, Mr. Barsottini’s educational pursuits began with an associate’s degree from the Community College of the Air Force. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from Midwestern State University in Texas in 1974, followed by a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Maryland in 1984. His academic journey concluded with a Master of Laws from Boston University in 1987.
Mr. Barsottini’s diverse career has spanned various spheres. He served as a deputy accounting and finance officer in the U.S. Air Force for 20 active years and holds the rank of master sergeant. During his service, he was honored with numerous awards, including three Meritorious Service Medals, three Commendation Medals – one of which includes a “V” for valor – and two Achievement Medals, as well as the Vietnam Veteran of the Year Award.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Barsottini ventured into finance and operations management, excelling as the finance director of a group of car dealerships. He later worked as the vice president and chief operating officer of a human resource employment law benefits company before retiring in 2011.
Serving as the treasurer of the local chapter and both treasurer and executive vice president of state council at Vietnam Veterans of America since 2014, Mr. Barsottini has been a stalwart in veteran affairs. He also holds the position of treasurer at Footsteps of the Fallen, and has been actively involved in various community organizations, including past memberships with the Kiwanis Club and Rotary Club and a prior presidency at the Pennsylvania Veterans Assistance Fund. In addition, Mr. Barsottini is a past member and past chapter president of the Air Force Sergeants Association and holds lifetime memberships in organizations such as the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Vietnam Veterans of America.
Notable among Mr. Barsottini’s achievements are maintaining perfect audits for Vietnam Veterans of America and his impeccable record during his Air Force tenure. Throughout his illustrious career, his expertise has also been acknowledged through publications in the Certified Financial Planner organization and the U.S. Department of Labor, focusing on taxation, employee classifications, and financial matters. His commitment to veterans’ advocacy, leadership, and integrity have been the hallmarks of his impactful contributions to the veteran community. He attributes his success to his strong leadership skills, ethics, and upbringing.
