Debra Spainhower Isaac, Lead Cyber Engineer with the United States Air Force, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in defensive cybersecurity.

In her current post as a lead cyber engineer with the United States Air Force, Ms. Isaac responds to new vulnerabilities and cyber threats, prioritizes problems, and finds solutions. She is also in charge of cybersecurity for a software company, where she reviews, assesses, and tests software to ensure robustness and sustainability before deployment. Ms. Isaac is the first non-scientist to receive a full Thomas Edison fellowship from the Naval Research Laboratory. In preparation for her career, she attended the University of Maryland, graduating in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree and earning a master’s degree in computer science in 1995.

Ms. Isaac became involved in her career because she wanted to make a difference. She considers assisting the Department of Defense in strengthening its cybersecurity to be the highlight of her career. Through her work, she has prevented adversaries from gaining access to United States Military systems. Ms. Isaac authored several papers and published a study guide for security certifications, which sold thousands of copies. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her grandsons and playing with her dog.
