Captain Patricia Mathes-Kerr, director of psychological health at the 137th Special Operations Wing of the Oklahoma Air National Guard, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in military health care and service.
With 25 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Mathes-Kerr has cultivated a successful career as a military leader. Between 2000 and 2022, she honorably served with the National Guard in the Active Guard Reserve and Army, achieving the rank of captain before retiring from her service. She primarily operated with the Oklahoma National Guard, specializing as a logistics sergeant, behavioral health provider, and behavioral science officer. While she is retired from active duty, Ms. Mathes-Kerr has continued to work alongside her fellow military personnel in 2022 as the director of psychological health for the 137th Special Operations Wing of the Oklahoma Air National Guard, monitoring and maintaining the overall health and wellness of all airmen and staff located on her base.
In addition to her primary vocational endeavors in the military, Ms. Mathes-Kerr previously worked as a communication specialist for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation between 1999 and 2001. She also served with the 45 Field Artillery Brigade of the Army as a behavioral health officer until 2022. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she pursued a formal education, earning a Bachelor of Science in secondary education at The University of Oklahoma in 1996. After beginning her military career, Ms. Mathes-Kerr subsequently continued her studies, achieving a master’s degree in social work at Fayetteville State University in 2014.
Adjacent to her current duties as a health advisor, Ms. Mathes-Kerr serves as a chaplain and judge advocate for The American Legion, and she was elected as the first female commander for the Oklahoma American Legion Post 64 in Chandler, Oklahoma in 2022. A decorated veteran, she is also well regarded as a decorated veteran. To wit, she has received numerous accolades from the Army, including a Humanitarian Service Medal, a Combat Action Badge, two Meritorious Service Medals, and three Commendation Medals. Furthermore, Ms. Mathes-Kerr was honored by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation with a Team Achievement Award and a Red Feather Award.
In light of her numerous achievements, Ms. Mathes-Kerr attributes much of her success to the endless support and countless opportunities she has had throughout her career. To wit, she is grateful to have been awarded as Field Instructor of the Year by The University of Oklahoma for social work in 2022. Furthermore, she is most notably proud to have served alongside many of her colleagues in the military. In the near future, Ms. Mathes-Kerr intends to continue assisting military personnel as a health care official and field instructor, and she hopes to travel to more countries around the world and graduate from a seminary school.
