Heather Eisenhauer, Military Family Life Counselor at Magellan Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in family and group counseling.
Since 2018, Ms. Eisenhauer has excelled as a military family life counselor with Magellan Health, treating married couples or family members to help them overcome mental or emotional problems and providing effective treatment measures to help the family members resolve their issues. In addition, she has excelled as a clinical counselor for Creekside Counseling Services in Oswego, New York and a crisis coordinator for the Children’s Home of Jefferson County, New York since 2015. As a practicum student with Conifer Parks in Rochester from 2014 to 2015, Ms. Eisenhauer helped facilitate group counseling sessions consisting of individuals that have a substance abuse issue or alcohol addiction. Her professional memberships include the American Counseling Association.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in criminology and psychology in 2013 from Le Moyne College in DeWitt, New York, Ms. Eisenhauer continued her education with a Master of Education in mental health counseling in 2015 from Alfred University in Alfred, New York. She has earned certifications as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and was approved as a National Certified Counselor by the National Board for Certified Counselors. Moreover, she is certified in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, a neurobiology-informed approach to clinical problem solving.
Prior to entering the counseling field, Ms. Eisenhauer provided superior service as a circulation desk assistant with the Le Moyne College Noreen Falcone Library from 2009 to 2013 and a graduate assistant for the Center for Student Involvement in Alfred from 2013 to 2015. From 2007 to the present, she works as a crew trainer for McDonald’s Corporation, in which she trains new employees and crew members and assists those in need of help with their duties.
Ms. Eisenhauer initially wanted to become a counselor for inmates, but she realized she wanted to help veterans and military families more after visiting Fort Drum in Jefferson County. In the coming years, she sees herself opening a private practice and getting her EMDR certification (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma. In addition, Ms. Eisenhauer envisions herself doing private practice on the side and doing military work as a full-time job.
