Philip Smith, Correctional Corporal at Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law enforcement.
Mr. Smith provided superior service as a correctional corporal with San Quentin State Prison in Marin County, California for two decades and subsequently as a crisis Intervention Suicide Prevention Counselor for Alameda County for 20 years. He additionally excelled as a sergeant for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and since 2019 as a correctional corporal with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, in which capacity he works with sex offenders, helping them remain alive until their sentences are completed.
With San Quentin, Mr. Smith was awarded Supervisor of the Year in 1995. His professional memberships include Nebraska Public Media, Fraternal Order of Police and Public Safety Committee in San Pablo, California. As a member of the United states military, Mr. Smith garnered an Outstanding Soldier Award from the Army. Prior to his career in corrections, he had obtained a bachelor of public administration, University of San Francisco.
Mr. Smith’s goal in the coming years is to pursue a master’s degree program either in counterterrorism or intelligence management. He is also aiming to complete a PhD program.
