Dan Calvin Boger, PhD, Science Professor and Consultant at Naval Postgraduate School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in information science education.

A lieutenant of the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1975, Dr. Boger chose to pursue a career in education for an intellectually stimulating life dedicated to research, curiosity and leadership. He received a Bachelor of Science in management science from the University of Rochester in 1968 and a Master of Science in management science from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1969. Upon his exit from the military, Dr. Boger earned a Master of Arts in statistics and a Doctor of Philosophy in economics in 1977 and 1979, respectively, from the University of California, Berkeley. Now a certified professional estimator and cost analyst, he maintains affiliation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Institute for Operations Research and Management Science, American Statistical Association, American Economic Association and American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Looking ahead, Dr. Boger plans to continue working on statistical research with students in new topic areas.

After serving as a Flood fellow and research assistant at the University of California, Berkeley in the 1970s, Dr. Boger commenced his tenure at the Naval Postgraduate School, where he has dedicated more than 40 years to various departments and positions. Notably, he has served as founding chairman of the department of information sciences and operations since 2002, as well as the dean of research, a science professor and consultant since 2006. Dedicated to educating, he had taught as an assistant, associate and full professor of economics and related subjects for four decades. Additionally, between 1995 and 2002, he had also served as chairman of the department of command, control and communications, chairman of the department of computer science, chairman of the department of information warfare and dean of the division of computer and information sciences and operations. To attest to his legacy, Dr. Boger can also be found in various editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who In Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the West, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
