Lt. Miller has established a distinguished career spanning over 25 years, marked by significant contributions to both military and civilian sectors. Since 2019, he has served as a program analyst with the U.S. Coast Guard in Hampton Roads, Virginia. In this capacity, Lt. Miller has leveraged his extensive background to support mission-critical initiatives and enhance organizational effectiveness.

Before his current role, Lt. Miller worked at the University of Phoenix in Tempe for five years, starting in 2014. Hired as a full-time faculty member, he contributed to curriculum design and student mentorship. Years later, he served as a faculty quality manager on campus, during which time he ensured academic standards and supported faculty development across multiple disciplines. Additionally, Lt. Miller served as an adjunct faculty member at Tidewater Community College, teaching English from 2015 to 2016, demonstrating his commitment to higher education and student success.

Lt. Miller’s professional journey is deeply rooted in his decade-long service in the U.S. Navy between 2005 and 2015. His earlier assignment as a communications officer aboard the USS ANZIO (CG 68) from 2005 to 2007 provided foundational experience in naval communications and systems management. As a lieutenant between 2007 and 2012, he demonstrated exemplary leadership and strategic acumen. Lt. Miller later served as an operations officer for Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Nine on Whidbey Island, Washington, from 2011 to 2013, followed by a role as a tactical watch officer until 2015, overseeing critical operational activities.

Highly educated, Lt. Miller earned a high school diploma from St. Petersburg High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1992. He later acquired a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in technical communication from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, in 2004.

Further enhancing Lt. Miller’s professional qualifications are several certifications in areas like human resources and operations management. He also became recognized as an Amazon Web Services cloud practitioner. Additionally, he completed several courses through LinkedIn Corporation in employee engagement, understanding and supporting LGBTQ+ employees, and leading and motivating individuals with various personalities. Among his most notable accomplishments, Lt. Miller is especially proud of earning a submarine qualification while enlisted, a testament to his technical proficiency and dedication within the armed forces.

Lt. Miller maintains active involvement with several organizations, including the Military Officers Association of America and the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps. He is also recognized as a life member of the Auburn University Alumni Association. Apart from these affiliations, Lt. Miller is a published author, reflecting his expertise in technical communication and his commitment to sharing knowledge.

In recognition of his professional excellence, Lt. Miller has received numerous accolades. He received the Civilian of the Quarter award from the Education and Training Quota Management Command in 2022. His military decorations include the Enlisted Submarine Service Warfare Insignia, a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, an Integrated Undersea Surveillance Warfare Insignia, and four U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps Achievement Medals, among others. Lt. Miller attributes his success to his natural efficiency and attention to detail.
