Dillon J. Howard, division chief of aircraft recovery at U.S. Air Force, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the armed services.

Mr. Howard has established a successful career in the armed services, having served with the U.S. Air Force since 2018, where he specializes in defense logistics, project management, systems analysis, joint military operations, and supply chain management. He currently excels as the division chief of aircraft recovery, a position he has held since 2023. His prior roles include chief of the integration airlift requirements branch from 2022 to 2023, chief of the verifications branch from 2021 to 2022, deployment and distribution flight commander in 2021, materiel management flight commander from 2020 to 2021, vehicle management flight commander from 2019 to 2020, and vehicle management flight commander in 2018-2019. He also served as a member of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) from 2014 to 2018. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned an Associate of Arts from Tallahassee State College in 2015, a Bachelor of Arts in criminology from Florida State University in 2018, a Master of Arts in organizational communication from The University of Alabama Graduate School in 2023 and completed the Google Career Certificates Project Management program in 2024.

Reflecting on his path, Mr. Howard has been the division chief of aircraft recovery at the United States Air Force for a year and a half. In this role, he leads a 19-member team of logisticians responsible for the cargo and passenger Department of Defense and non-government agency mobility aircraft, which was recognized as the directorate winner of the quarter out of 70 divisions. He also provides comprehensive command and control for Air Mobility Command’s (AMC) worldwide aircraft maintenance recovery actions, advising AMC on trend analysis for seven mission design series across 22,000 airlift missions annually. Additionally, he spearheads aircraft part sourcing, coordinating with aerial ports and AMC units to ensure mission velocity and efficiency, and developed a multi-unit aircraft recovery concept of operations, increasing non-mission-capable aircraft recovery rates by 8%. He also oversaw the recovery of 745 aircraft, 162 aircraft repair parts, and 74 maintenance teams across five combatant commands, reducing recovery time by 6.5% to a three-year best of 45.8 hours.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Howard has been honored with two Air Force Commendation Medals. He attributes his success to his intrinsic sense of humility and strong leadership qualities. In the coming years, he aims to achieve a major and squadron command role with a focus on logistics. He is also determined to pursue a doctorate and have his work featured and published in a reputable journal. On a personal level, Mr. Howard is considering starting a family during this period.
