With nearly three decades of experience, Mr. Erfourth has built a distinguished career in strategic planning, with a focus on national security and military strategy. He currently excels as a partner, author, and strategist at Strategy Central, a position he has held since 2024, and as president and founder of Erfourth Enterprises Inc. since 2021. His experience also includes serving as president, founder, and Yale Fellow at Yale University from 2020 to 2021 and as director of innovation, strategy, and planning at Madison Springfield Inc. during the same period. He served as J5 chief of plans at U.S. Special Operations Command from 2017 to 2020, J5 director at Special Operations Command Central from 2015 to 2017, chief of policy operations at United States Forces Korea from 2014 and 2015, and strategic planner at U.S. Central Command from 2009 to 2012. His earlier career includes serving as chief executive officer of Erfourth Enterprises Inc. from 2003 to 2008 and as a marine officer instructor at Jacksonville University from 2003 to 2005.

Mr. Erfourth also dedicated himself to the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in multinational logistics from 2006 to 2009 and as a supply and logistics officer from 1993 to 2003. In recognition of his distinguished service, he received several prestigious honors, including the Legion of Merit from U.S. Special Operations Command in 2020, the Defense Superior Service Medal from the U.S. Army in 2017, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal from both U.S. Forces Korea in 2015 and U.S. Central Command in 2012. He was also awarded the Joint Commendation Medal by U.S. Central Command in 2012, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in 2005, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 2000 for his exemplary service.

Mr. Erfourth has also made significant contributions through his written works, including “On Competition: Adapting to the Contemporary Strategic Environment,” “The Hermit Kingdom in the Digital Era: Implications of the North Korean Problem for the SOF Community,” “Extremism on the Horizon: The Challenges of VEO Innovation,” and “Starting With ‘Why’: The National Security Strategy and America’s National Interests.” Laying a solid educational foundation for these accomplishments, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government from the University of Florida in 1993, completed the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Operational and Strategic Arts at Marine Corps University in 2008, earned a certificate in military and strategic leadership from the United States Army War College in 2012, and obtained a master’s degree in political science and government from Louisiana State University in 2013. 

As the former J5 Chief of Plans at Special Operations Command, Mr. Erfourth has a deep understanding of strategy and global campaigns. His extensive experience at United States Central Command, including deployments in the Middle East, has provided him with expertise in geopolitical issues and military operations. Notably, he collaborated with colleagues to develop AI solutions and a website that received widespread recognition, showcasing his innovative approach to aligning military objectives with emerging technologies. His background in political theory further supports his ability to bridge military actions with broader political goals.

In the coming years, Mr. Erfourth is driven to create a community service initiative that utilizes cutting-edge AI tools to foster strategic thinking and promote academic success. His goal is to partner with universities, empowering students by involving them in his projects and motivating them to develop, publish, and apply strategic skills through these tools, preparing them for future careers. Additionally, he is committed to supporting action officers deployed to a prominent four-star command, providing customized tools and guidance to enhance strategic development for military personnel.
