Henry A. “Trey” Obering III, senior executive adviser at Booz Allen Hamilton, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in consulting services.

Following more than 35 years of service in the United States Air Force, Mr. Obering has taken on esteemed roles at Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., working his way up from partner to executive vice president and back to partner. He retired from his full-time role at the organization in 2022 but still provides guidance as a senior executive adviser. During his time at Booz Allen Hamilton, Mr. Obering has supported the organization’s mission of aiding the Department of Defense and intelligence communities in building out and improving space technology. During his time with the Air Force, he contributed as a space shuttle integration engineer and an orbital project engineer for the U.S. Space Shuttle Program at the Kennedy Space Center. Mr. Obering’s military career included serving as a fighter pilot, as chairman of the board of managers for Intelsat, as a senior adviser for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and as a board member for Modern Technology Solutions Inc. He also offered his insight as a member of the proxy board for Astroscale U.S.

Both before and during his tenure with the military, Mr. Obering sought to bolster his skills through academics. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1973. Subsequently, Mr. Obering earned a Master of Science in astronautical engineering from Stanford University in 1980. He credits his success to the support of his parents and the way that they raised him. His achievements have been honored with many military accolades, including being a two-time recipient of the Defense Distinguished Service Medal. In 2008, he won the Award for Outstanding Graduate in Military Service from the University of Notre Dame.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Obering is a devoted husband, father to three and grandfather to seven. He enjoys golfing, reading, fishing and taking walks to stay active. Looking ahead, Mr. Obering aims to continue contributing to the military through his advisory role at Booz Allen Hamilton. He believes that the future of the defense industry lies in space and wants to provide whatever support he can to reach that future. Additionally, Mr. Obering hopes to do more international travel and spend more time with his grandchildren. He intends to provide financial and emotional support to his grandchildren.
