CAPT Gary W. Schnurrpusch, USN Ret., Senior Naval and Joint Maritime Warfare Analyst and Independent Operations Research and Systems Analyst, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in advanced analysis.
CAPT Schnurrpusch is a distinguished retiree of the United States Navy. Intending to become a secondary school mathematics educator, he changed course because of the Vietnam War and entered the United States Navy in 1969 as a captain and surface warfare officer, a position in which he served until 1997. Between 1997 and 2014, he worked for Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc., as a group leader for the naval surface warfare analysis group, subsequently contributing his expertise as a United States Navy naval warfare analyst and program advising consultant in 2014. He was valuable to Leonie as a senior naval warfare analyst and senior NSS modeler between 2015 and 2017. He dedicated his time as a senior advisor and operations analyst in naval warfare and joint capabilities between 2018 and 2019 while simultaneously acting as an adjunct research staff member for the Institute for Defense Analysis. Presently, he works as a senior naval joint maritime warfare analyst.
CAPT Schnurrpusch attributes his success to his parents, who inspired him through their military service and taught him to work hard. He utilized this inspiration to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Illinois State University in 1969. He obtained a Master of Science in research and systems analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1975. Intending to serve the mandatory three years in the United States Navy, he found that he had a passion for the military and served twenty-eight years before retiring. In the coming years, he wishes to be a resource or mentor to the next generation of analysts and young naval officers.
