David J. Green, Senior Legal Advisor (IMA) at the United States Special Operations Command, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the Profession of Arms and the Profession of Law.
Col. Green attended Officer Candidate School at the North Carolina Military Academy at Fort Bragg, NC, and was commissioned as an infantry officer in the North Carolina Army National Guard in 1998. After commissioning, he completed law school and transferred to the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps. In response to the horrific events of September 11, 2001, Col. Green has deployed overseas at every rank he held, accumulating over eight combat tours in the Central Command Area of Responsibility and over ten short tours in other Global Component Commands. He has the rare distinction of serving as a deployed staff judge advocate four times in combat zones.
Col. Green’s additional military training includes graduating from the U.S. Army Military Police School, the National Guard Sniper School, the U.S. Army Airborne and Air Assault Schools, and the U.S. Army and Special Operations Combatives Program. His specialties in law practice are information security, national security law, contracting/fiscal law, and space/cyber law. Col. Green is currently assigned as the senior legal advisor (IMA) for the United States Special Operations Command with attachment to the Office of the United States Security Coordinator for Israel and the Palestinian Authority stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem.
Col. Green’s many military awards and accolades include the Combat Action Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, multiple Defense Meritorious Service and U.S. Army Meritorious Medals, and numerous other state and federal awards. He is a 2007 General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Awardee. Related to his military affiliation, Col. Green is associated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Reserve Organization of America, and the Military Order of the World Wars.
Col. Green’s academic achievements are a testament to his commitment to continuous learning and professional development. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in purchasing and operations management from Michigan State University in 1993 and a graduate certificate in market and management studies from Duke University three years later. He furthered his education by earning a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University, a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business, a Master of Strategic Studies from The United States Army War College, a Master of Laws in space, cyber, and telecommunications law from the University of Nebraska College of Law, and a graduate certificate in international relations from Harvard University. His military qualifications include graduation from the U.S. Army War College, U.S. Naval War College (Naval Command & Staff Course), Army Command & General Staff Officer Course, Special Operations Legal Advisor Course, Air Assault, Airborne, Modern Army Combatives, Special Operations Combatives, and Sniper. Col. Green’s academic and military qualifications reflect his dedication to excellence and his multifaceted expertise.
