Russell H. Cannon, retired federal facilities project specialist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in facilities administration.

With 41 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Cannon has excelled as federal facilities project specialist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs from 1962 to 1999. At the age of 16, he enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard, and in 1962, he was transferred to the United States Navy where he served two tours in Vietnam. Before embarking on his professional path, he pursued an education at Northern Oklahoma College where he earned an associate degree in 1972. He continued his academic efforts at the University of Central California, graduating with a bachelor’s degree. He holds a pilot’s license from the Commercial Flight School.

In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Cannon remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, and the National Association of Atomic Veterans. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Karate Association in 2022, the Atomic Veterans Medal from the Department of Defense, and was recognized as a Gray Horse War Mothers Honoree in 2021.

Mr. Cannon learned throughout his career that if he was going to start a project, he was going to finish it. In the immediate future, he looks forward to spending more time with his family, specifically his grandchildren, and engaging with his hobbies, which includes flying.
