Michael J. Shick, Assistant Professor at Western Carolina University and Adjunct Professor at The Citadel, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in air force engineering and administration.

With nearly 25 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Shick has excelled as an affiliate professor of strategy and operations management at Regis University since 2019, an adjunct professor of engineering leadership and program management at The Citadel since 2021, and an assistant professor at Western Carolina University since 2023. Prior to these positions, he was active with NORAD and USNORTHCOM as a future operations strategist from 2018 to 2019 and the chief of the JADC2 futures branch from 2019 to 2020. Mr. Shick previously worked as a senior communications engineer with Trawick & Associates between 2004 and 2006.

Mr. Shick began his career with the U.S. Air Force, enlisting as a network infrastructure technician from 1999 to 2002. Between 2002 and 2016, he served as a network systems analyst, a boundary protection and intrusion detection specialist, an assistant flight commander, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the Afghanistan-Pakistan Hand, a flight commander, and the deputy program manager. In recent years, Mr. Shick found success as the director of the Office of the Warrior Advocate from 2016 to 2018, the chief of the Wing Commander Action Group from 2017 to 2018, the director of the Invisible Wounds Initiative from 2020 to 2022, and the director of Warrior Wellness and Policy Integration from 2020 to 2022.

To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Shick fortified his academic background with an Associate of Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force and Air University, a Bachelor of Science in computer networking, cum laude, at Regis University, a Master of Science in project management from the George Washington University School of Business in 2013, a Master of Science in strategic intelligence from the National Intelligence University in 2014, a Master of Business Administration from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, and a Doctor of Business Administration from the Heider College of Business at Creighton University in 2020. As a testament to his many accomplishments, he was recognized as an Outstanding Alumni by Kentwood Public Schools as well as the Field Grade Officer of the Year by the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force and the Manpower and Reserve Affairs Secretariat. In the coming years, Mr. Shick envisions himself earning tenure while successfully launching his project management advocacy training, certification and coaching company, Rosemet LLC.
