Captain Brittany V. Simon, Esq.

Title: Judge Advocate General
Company:  U.S. Army
Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States

Brittany Simon, Judge Advocate General at U.S. Army, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in administrative law.

Following obtaining a Bachelor of Science in human development and family studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2013, Ms. Simon continued her education with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in 2017. She began her legal career as an access to justice intake intern with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services and a judicial extern with the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 2015 and then served as a law clerk for the Kelly & Ignoffo Law Group from 2015 to 2016. Ms. Simon then provided superior service as a judicial extern for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, as a judicial extern for the Illinois Supreme Court and as a law clerk for the Cook County Public Defender’s Office and the City of Chicago Law Department from 2016 to 2017.

Ms. Simon prospered as a deputy in the Colorado State Public Defender’s office from 2017 to 2018, as a judicial law clerk with The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County from 2018 to 2020 and assistant attorney in the Cook County Public Defender’s office in 2020. Since 2019, she has found much success as a judge-advocate (JAG) for the United States Army, where she specializes in administrative law, legal assistance and as a special victims counsel.

Ms. Simon attributes her success to the support from leadership, family, and her ambition to continue to push forward with whatever she wanted to do. She was the first in her family to go to law school, she is the only attorney in her family. At times it was hard, but her family has always supported her and pushed her to do better. Upon deciding to join the military, Ms. Simon had nothing but ample support from her family. They pushed her, any assistance she needed help with, they made sure they were there for her.

In the coming years, Ms. Simon envisions herself still in the military and hopefully by then, she would attain the rank of Major. In the military, as a JAG officer, she gets to experience many different types of areas of law within one organization.
