Ms. Benjamin obtained a bachelor’s degree in construction technology from the University of Maryland in College Park. She had also served her country as a quartermaster and second class petty officer with the United States Navy for six years. During her service she was awarded with the Joint Service Commendation Medal given to personnel who distinguished themselves by meritorious achievement or service in a joint duty capacity. Ms. Benjamin was inspired to enter the military by her two grandfathers, one of whom was with the Marines while the other one served with the Navy.
For nearly two decades, Ms. Benjamin has excelled as a quality control manager and quality control mentor and superintendent with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, a premier provider of construction management, general contracting, design-build and integrated project delivery services. She attributes her success to her perseverance and the fact that she loved her work and the camaraderie with her coworkers.
