Title: Army First Sergeant

Carolynette M. Lagana, Army First Sergeant at the U.S. Army, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in military service.
From her involvement in JROTC during her high school years, Ms. Lagana enjoyed the discipline, growth and mental values that the program added to her life. She learned that if she believed in herself, she could achieve anything she desired. With this mindset, she went to work for the Pentagon where she garnered an even deeper passion to get out there and make a difference in the world. For the past 20 years, Ms. Lagana has been an Army First Sergeant with the U.S. Army. As a testament to her success, she has received a Volunteer Award, Army Achievement Medals, Good Conduct Medals, a Service Award and a Chaplain Award. In addition, she has also received a Service Medal, a Military Icon Medal and an Order of Saint Martin.
Looking back, Ms. Lagana believes her most notable achievement was being able to bounce back from heart surgery two years ago. She showed the soldiers that no matter what they go through they could still push themselves and overcome many obstacles. The most rewarding aspect of her job is seeing soldiers come to her from basic training as a private and four or five years later, they come back as a noncommissioned officer. She attributes her success to her parents who pushed her and told her she could do it and also her children and her soldiers. In her spare time, she volunteers at her local church and helps in the community. Notably, Ms. Lagana earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Purdue Global in 2019.
