Title: Founder and President
Company: Bugles Across America

Tom J. Day, Founder and President of Bugles Across America, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military Leaders for his dedication, achievements, and leadership.
A retiree, Mr. Day dedicated over a decade of service to the United States Marine Corps and the Navy in the capacity of a sergeant. Upon his honorable discharge, he assumed employment with the Illinois State Lottery from 1989 to 2003. Since 2000, he has proudly held the title of founder and president of Bugle Across America.
The organization was founded by Mr. Day after Congress passed legislation stating that veterans have a right to at least two uniformed military people to fold the flag and play Taps on a CD player. He vowed to take this initiative a step further by developing Bugles Across America. His efforts with the organization led to the successful recruitment of more than 5000 members and the involvement of five states to review legislation regarding Taps. Eventually, 7th and 8th graders were allowed to play with local legions and VFW posts.
Civically, Mr. Day has devoted his time to Autism awareness programs and the American Legion. In recognition of his successful career, he has been the recipient of Marine of the Year Award from the Marine Corps in 1959 and 1960. Likewise, he received a Congressional Gold Medal and a Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Day attributes his success to hard work and his love of all Americans, regardless of their color or belief systems. He genuinely loves people and takes pleasure in providing assistance when necessary.
