Karon Uzzell-Baggett, Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Military for dedication, achievements, and leadership in military service.
Prior to her primary career pursuits, Lt. Col. Uzzell-Baggett attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1986. She was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force, and rose to the rank of a lieutenant colonel in 2002. Through her decades of military service, Lt. Col. Uzzell-Baggett held numerous positions, including serving as the chief of classified control, a detachment commander, a plans officer and an operations training officer. She retired as the commander of the Air Force ROTC at Tennessee State University in Nashville, where she served from 2008 to 2011. After her retirement, she worked for the Career Development Center at Tennessee State University until 2014, acting as a college student services official, as well as the center’s director.
Lt. Col. Uzzell-Baggett completed postgraduate coursework at the University of Maryland from 1993 to 1996, and later earned a doctorate in occupational therapy from Belmont University in 2019. She has maintained memberships to numerous organizations related to her areas of expertise, including the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Society for Human Resources Management, the Human Resources Certification Institute, the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Military Officers Association of America. Lt Col Uzzell-Baggett has been recognized with multiple awards and honors, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, as well as multiple Distinguished Military Service Medals and Air Force Commendation Medals, among others. As a further testament to her stature and experience, Lt. Col. Uzzell-Baggett has been selected for inclusion in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
